Maybe Teresa Giudice doesn’t need a raise after all. According to the lawyer handling the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star’s bankruptcy case, she and her husband did not reveal major assets when they filed for protection last fall.
On Thursday, New Jersey attorney Roberta A. DeAngelis filed an objection to the couple’s request for protection, which they filed after discovering they were $11 million in debt, popeater.com reports. The court document alleges that the Giudices failed to list a $250,000 book advance Teresa received from Hyperion for her cookbook, “Skinny Italian.”
The couple also reportedly failed to disclose Teresa’s ownership of TGFabulicious – an online boutique that sells accessories and clothing – as well as her husband Joe’s ownership of another company.
According to DeAngelis, “the Defendants have knowingly and fraudulently made false oaths in this case” as Giudice’s contract with Hyperion was reportedly signed before the couple’s petition for bankruptcy protection.
Giudice reportedly acknowledged in April that she received the book advance, but her legal team did not update court records. Earlier this year, court documents obtained by eonline.com also revealed that Giudice dropped $60,000 on furniture and luxury items days after she and husband Joe declared bankruptcy. The couple’s belongings were set to be auctioned off publicly in October, but her lawyer told RadarOnline.com that they are now hoping to conduct the sale privately.
“We concluded that we didn’t think that the public sale would draw any additional money,” he said. “So it would be an exercise in futility.” Last week, TMZ.com reported that Giudice and other members of the NJ “Housewives” cast would not show up for the first day of shooting season three if their contracts were not renegotiated. Giudice reportedly wants double her current salary as well as profits from the show’s DVD and merchandise sales. source
