Spencer Pratt has been persistent in his attempt to reclaim the spotlight since he and his fame-hogging cohort, wife Heidi Montag, split in June. But it may be for that reason, says Pratt, that the reality show couple may not reconcile. ”We love each other but I’m a famewhore and I’ll never grow out of it,” Pratt, 26, admitted to People.com. “[Heidi] knows that and doesn’t want that.”
“I want every kind of press,” he added. “She believes in bad press. There’s no way my love for fame and her love for puppies will ever work out successfully. She just wants to hike and hang out and be calmer.”
Though Montag filed for legal separation from Pratt last month, the couple’s family members and castmates from “The Hills” have voiced their doubt that the split is real. To date, neither spouse has filed divorce papers.
“She thought I’d burn out of this, but no, I’m still the same Spencer who went on ‘The Hills’ to be famous,” he said. “I still need to do stunts and take cues from Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.”
Apparently, Pratt doesn’t pay close enough attention since neither Pitt nor Cruise ever stooped down to his level to gain fame. They certainly never pulled a ridiculous stunt like Pratt did last week when he donned an embarrassing disguise in an attempt to crash the live broadcast of the “Hills” finale party in Los Angeles.
Though Pratt and his ex remain “friendly,” he said his need for attention has “been a constant battle since we got married.”
“She would be like, ‘Are you really Tweeting that? Are you really doing that?’” he said, adding that Montag, 23, no longer cares to be associated with the couple’s infamous “Speidi” nickname.
“She wants to be Heidi Montag: the sex symbol,” he explained.
As for what’s next for the out-of-work reality star?
“I’m switching it up,” he said. “I’ve already gone for the blonde, spiky-haired look. Now I’m going for the Hollywood producer look.”
He added, “I’m an artist now. I have an easel and everything. I’m going for an art show and a gallery.”
