Bloggers have been abuzz ever since new photos of Angelina Jolie in Venice, Italy show two mysterious muscles protruding between the right side of the actress’ neck and chin.
While some believe the photo to be doctored, others have consulted multiple plastic surgeons for an explanation.
Dr. Elie Levine, who has not treated Jolie, told Usmagazine.com he believes the actress “received Botox to her face and likely her neck,” which paralyzes facial muscle and causes one to compensate and “recruit other muscles that are not regularly used.”
To prove the validity of the photo, the magazine dug up an image of Jolie from the BAFTA awards in Feb. 2009, in which she sports the same facial protrusions.
According to Beverly hills-based Dr. Gabriel Chiu, the 34-year-old actress’ bizarre muscles may be the result of a “minimally invasive procedure” such as Gore-Tex, an injection that lifts and suspends the “tissues in her neck, jaw line and lower face.”
On the other hand, Dr. Lyle M. Back told Us he believes Jolie’s neck protrusions are the result of “very thinned out skin tented and pulled over the edge of the angle of her jaw.” Noting the actress’ slender physique, he says this is natural for a woman with less than 10 perfect body fat.
